Studied at Royal Welsh Conservatoire: vocal and operatic studies (this course covers opera, musical theatre and acting)
Living In Lockdown
Lockdown was extremely challenging; however, I was lucky and found a lot of opportunities some of which included: Choir recordings for St Pauls Cathedral, Online sessions with the fantastic Dean John Wilson and his VC8 Pro doing acting through song, collaborations with fellow students to produce two choral videos directed by Thomas Mottershead, A whole season of masterclasses with the National Student Operatic Society and getting to perform for the opera legend Austin Gunn.
Writing and recording my new monologue making chocolate brownies, Collaborations with Opera North Youth Group, 1 to 1's with Martin Pickard director of opera north, being part of The Choir Of Solidarity Project which can be found on YouTube, Musical Theatre Project Under the Spotlight led by Andy Reiss, west end director and performer, and Katie Leeming also a west end performer and choreographer. Both are now part of the touring production of Beyond the Barricade. I've also recently completed two brilliant masterclass courses conducted by The Actors Warehouse lead by Studio Annelise Bianchini and Director Steven Bowyer. Cast in the roles of Marcellus and Grave Digger 2 Hamlet in London at the tower bridge theatre directed by Gavin McAlinden of which, despite not being able to do the performances due to covid , I attended all rehearsals.
In addition, I have completed a writer’s workshop series with the Almeida Theatre London. These workshops were designed to inspire young black writers and were led by brilliant writers like Daniel Ward, Yolanda Mercy, Lolita Chakrabarti (who’s play HYMN featuring Adrian Lester and Danny Sapani we got to watch) , Rachel De-Lahay. Furthermore, we had Q & A’s with the writers and got to present our own monologues and play/tv script ideas. The Q&A’s were hosted by Abi Falase Creative Producer of HYMN.
I have also attended multiple musical theatre training programmes. Led by the likes of Dean John Wilson who (Played Aladdin in Westend Touring Production) and by Daniel Koek who is currently in Australia’s national touring production of Phantom of the opera as Jeweller and First Phantom Cover, he also was one of the youngest actors to play Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. I attended workshops, 1 to 1’s, q and a’s with west end actors, group masterclasses, showcases for agents and much more. Both provided amazing insights for straight acting, spoken word, breath control, tone, acting through song, belting and runs to name a few. I also am currently waiting for my final few classes with Daniel, who also runs a live west end sessions showcase, before which he picks his students from the course attended to perform.
Recently I have completed a 6 weeklong intensive course and 1 to 1’s with George Gallagher called The Actors Instinct. This course culminated in a showcase which I have recordings of as well and was watched by directors, producers, casting agents and casting directors from all over the USA and London.
In addition, I was recently asked to perform at BEAM2021 at Hackney Empire in London by a Cardiff composer, who saw my performance account on Instagram and asked me a week before the performance, if I would do this paid musical theatre opportunity. Their new musical is called Coopers Hill Cheese Rolling and Wake and is streaming at stream.theatre and Broadway OnDemand across the entire USA.
Finally, I have now successfully passed the first round of auditions for the WNO young company's production of Shostakovich’s Cheryomushki and received a recall audition in December.
I'm happy to send videos and links to performances if you like to see. I would also like to highlight the fact that i completed this alongside term time and helping my mother nurse my terminally ill father with cancer. Which due to covid we didn't receive much help due to regulations.
